I found one old equipment in my laboratory's store room. I have never seen or read about any such equipment, so felt like searching about the same.
I was told that this instrument was purchased before 1987, and as was not used as such, so it has been dumped long time back. As per the info plate on the instrument, that equipment is called as "Color Master". Logo of Gem Instrument Corporation was also there on the equipment. On its back side, its written on a plate, "Mfg. by Gem Instruments Corporation, Santa Monica, U.S.A."
This instrument is having two knobs, left one is probably to point the cut of the stone to be tested. But I could not think about the right knob. What's this A, B, C, D, E, F & G denotes.
There was one bulb sought of in the centre of squarish open space/hole in the centre. The lower base was having four knobs. First one, from left, silver one seems like its on off button. Cant say anything about Red, Green and Blue knobs.
One LED was also there, over silver knob, probably to show the status of equipment if its on or switched off.
As its name says, this was developed for color grading of diamonds or gemstones. But how, I could not guess out.
I searched on net, and on gemology.online I found one discussion related to this instrument. Although I could not find much on that regarding its working. But in the picture uploaded on gemology.online, display pannels above these colored knobs are showing some digits.
I could not find out much about this equipment.
Comments and suggestions are welcome, if some one has some information about this instrument. Or could explain how this equipment do works.
I could search this image online on the link given above.
